Dallas Stars need a snap after a long slide
The Dallas Stars, from the beginning of this season, have been seen as a mediocre hockey team. It seems to be worse when the team continue to perform badly. The Stars has lost all of its last eight games, among them are a failure of 5-3 vs the Golden Knights and another failure 4-0 vs the Avalanche in the round-robin.
Having said that, the Stars are excellent at penalty killing as they successfully get through 79.7 percent of their shorthanded situations this season. They also allow 2.52 goals per contest for their end of the ice.
After a terrible slide of three losses in a row, the Stars finished with 82 points and possess the third place in the Central Division. Enter the game; the Stars have gone 2-0-0 thus far. Now, the Stars will be looking to flip the switch on the match against a division rival on this match. They should be setting up specific plans for this ‘do or die’ match.
So what will they try to do differently today against the Blue?
To reinforce the offense, the interim coach of the Stars – Rick Bowness, switched lines during practice Friday. Bowness also reassembled Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin.
The 23-year-old talent Denis Gurianov is also sent out with Mattias Janmark and Joe Pavelski. Gurianov owns an excellent record with .135 shooting percentage. In 54 games with Texas during the American Hockey League, Denis scored 25 points, including 10 goals and 15 assists.
Anton Khudobin will come in as the starting goalie for the Stars in this game. He made 36 saves on Wednesday. He had a fantastic performance during the regular season with a 16-8-4 record with a 2.22 GAA and a .930 save percentage. This season he has 0-1 with a 4.00 GAA and a .900 save percentage.
St. Louis Blues is killing the 2020 Stanley Cup
The St. Louis Blues seems to be the most solid hockey team of this season. Nailing the Stanley Cup last season, the Blues though, did not show any signs of slowing down during the regular season as they ended up in possession of first place in the Central Division.
However, St. Louis has had its first two lost games since the restart so that the chance of become either the third seed or the fourth seed in the Western Conference will depend on this matchup.
St. Louis Blues stepped back by the first 2-1 loss with Golden Knights. After that loss, The Blues record 38-17 during their clumsy 6-4 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday.
The Blues recorded a 4-0-1 after five regular-season meetings, including one 3-2 overtime loss with the Stars on February 8.
Now, the Blues will look to end the Round Robin on a high note as they would hate to enter the actual Stanley Cup Playoffs amid a three-game losing streak.
Leading the Blues offensively will be center Ryan O’Reilly, who has looked good this season as he had 12 goals and 49 assists through 71 regular-season games. However, he had a Plus/Minus Rating of +11, so the Blues were elite whenever he has been on the ice. O’Reilly has continued to play well since the restart, as he is leading his team with three points.
Ivan Barbashev will be absent from the match for the sake of his first child’s birthday, we don’t know the time he could replay this season. Winger Vladimir Tarasenko cannot also attend the game due to an undisclosed injury.
