Following an embarrassing performance, now the Reds are getting better.
It was so difficult for many diehard Reds fans. So far this season, the Reds have looked like the second-worst team in the NL Central division. The teams haven’t got any run in 20 innings and fall behind the division-leading Cubs five games in just two weeks beginning the season.
The bullpen has cost the team at least three victories, blowing three of its four opportunities to go up already this year. Last Thursday’s performance witnessed the Reds losing record against the Cleveland Indians; they were 6-8 for the season as surrendering with five free passes and ten runs during only three frames.
However, they have been playing better over this past week as they have won four of their last seven games, so perhaps things are headed in the right direction. In the last match, they defeated Brewers 8-3 to climb up the top 3 squads in the NL Central.
So far, the pitching staff, especially the starters, have done such a good job this season. Six different pitchers have set out the games this season, and five of them achieve an ERA of 2.08 or lower. As a whole, the staff has an ERA of 3.45, which is good news for the Reds fans.
Tyler Mahle will take the starting pitcher for the Reds in this match. He got his first All-Star last season. However, he has looked terrible so far this season, coming in 0-2 with not an outstanding record, with a 1.8 ERA, a 1.41 WHIP, and only one home-run for recent plays.
The Reds’ most dangerous hitter, Nick Castellanos, is ready for the match. He made significant contributions to the Reds’ 8-3 win on the road over the Brewers. He is carrying a .340 average with seven home runs and 16 RBIs.
Moustakas, the most significant player of the Reds, will return on the match after leaving the Tuesday’s game against Cleveland due to a bruised left quadriceps.
The 31-year-old baseman is holding an excellent record, .238 average, two home runs, and 6 RBIs for the 2020 season. In 2019, when playing for Milwaukee, he also batted .254/.329/.516, with 35 home runs and 87 RBIs in 143 games.
Kansas City Royals is full of beans to come back normalcy
The Royals were coming off a poor 2020 season. They were facing up with a brutal slide, only won four of their 14 games in 2020, dropped six in a row, and eight out of their last nine games.
However, the team comes alive when smashing their way to a 13-2 win on Thursday against the Cubbies with 11 extra-base hits and the first 13 runs.
Contributing to the next winning is Ryan McBroom, who used his powerful swing of to launch one home run during the sixth inning of a matchup against the Minnesota Twins on to collect a 3-2 winning in the series opener. It was their second one-run game victory, as well as their second comeback win of the season. Such a turning point for the team this season!
However, after the victories, they still need 5.5 game backs of the Twins to climb up the AL Central race. So their way to come back normalcy still may fill up with ups and downs.
Brad Keller will take the mound for the start of this game. Being diagnosed with COVID-19 during Summer Camp, Keller missed the first two weeks of the season. Returning the lineups on the Thursday’s performance, the man got three singles and two walks over five innings. Keller also got impressive records, 218 strikeouts in 305 2/3 innings for his first two seasons.
Jakob Junis is also going to be sent out. He returned from the injured list to make his 2020 season debut. In seven career starts against the division-rival Twins, Junis has performed well but has been no-decision rendered in six outings. He comes in 0-1 overall record with a 4.28 ERA and a 1.72 WHIP in those matchups.
